Terms of Use

1. Acceptance

By downloading, installing, or using Faithlocked ("the App") on iOS or Android, you agree to these Terms of Use. If you do not agree, do not use the App.

2. Service Description

Faithlocked is a faith-focused screen-time app that helps you spend less time on distracting apps and more time in prayer. The App provides:

• App blocking via Apple's Screen Time framework (FamilyControls) on iOS, and via Android's Accessibility service or Usage access on Android.
• Guided prayers generated on demand, paired with scripture references.
• Blocking rules with schedules and selectable app categories.
• Temporary unlock sessions earned by completing a prayer.
• Streaks and prayer history stored locally on your device.

An active subscription and the relevant blocking permissions for your platform are required for full functionality. Faithlocked blocks apps only — it does not block websites or web content.

3. No Account Needed

Everything is stored on your device. No sign-up, no login, no password required.

4. Subscriptions

4.1 Requirement

An active subscription is required to access all features. Weekly, monthly, and yearly plans may be offered.

4.2 Billing

• Payment is charged to your Apple ID (iOS) or your Google Play account (Android) at confirmation of purchase.
• Subscriptions automatically renew unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period.
• Renewal is charged within 24 hours before the current period ends, at the same price unless the store notifies you otherwise.

4.3 Management & Cancellation

• Manage subscriptions in iOS Settings > Your Name > Subscriptions, or on Android in Google Play > Payments & subscriptions > Subscriptions.
• Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period.
• No refunds for unused portions of a subscription period.
• When a subscription expires, prayer-locked app blocking features will be disabled.

4.4 Free Trial

Any unused portion of a free trial is forfeited when you purchase a subscription. After the trial expires, continued use requires a subscription.

4.5 Refunds

All purchases are processed by the store you bought from — Apple on iOS, Google Play on Android. Refund requests must be made through that store, not through us, and all purchases are final unless the store's refund policy permits otherwise.

4.6 Refund Requests & Consumption Data

If we receive a refund request for an in-app purchase, we may provide Apple — through our subscription management provider, Adapty — with information about your in-app purchase activity so Apple can make an informed decision. This may include details such as the time since app installation, total app usage time, an anonymized account identifier, whether the in-app purchase was fully consumed, whether it included a trial period, the total amount spent, and the total amount refunded. By accepting these Terms, you consent to this data sharing. You may withdraw your consent at any time by emailing us at support@faithlocked.app, after which we will no longer share this data with Apple for your future refund requests. This section applies to App Store purchases only; Google Play refunds are decided by Google and we share no consumption data with Google.

5. App Blocking Permissions

By granting the blocking permissions the App requests, you acknowledge that:

• The App can block selected apps on your device.
• Blocked apps are unlocked by completing a prayer or by your configured rule schedule.
• We are not responsible for missed notifications, messages, or calls from blocked apps.
• Granting these permissions is optional, and you can revoke them at any time — see below.

5.1 iOS

Blocking uses Apple Screen Time (FamilyControls). You can revoke access at any time in Settings > Screen Time.

5.2 Android

Blocking uses Android's Accessibility service or Usage access to detect which app you bring to the foreground, a foreground service to stay active, and the "display over other apps" permission to show the prayer screen above a blocked app. The App reads only the package name of the foreground app — never your screen contents, messages, or anything you type — and that information never leaves your device. You can revoke each permission in Android Settings (Accessibility, Special app access > Usage access, and Special app access > Display over other apps). Because Android lets manufacturers and battery-optimisation settings stop background services, blocking may be delayed or interrupted on some devices; excluding Faithlocked from battery optimisation reduces this.

6. Prayer Generation

Prayers are generated by Google Gemini via our authenticated proxy. By using prayer features, you acknowledge that:

• Prayer text is generated by an AI model and may occasionally contain inaccuracies.
• Scripture references are validated against an on-device verse library.
• Prayers are provided for personal devotional use and do not constitute religious counsel, doctrine, or pastoral guidance.
• The service may be temporarily unavailable due to rate limits or upstream outages.

7. User Responsibilities

You agree to:

• Use the App in accordance with all applicable laws.
• Not attempt to circumvent app blocking through unauthorized methods.
• Not reverse-engineer, decompile, or exploit bugs in the App.
• Ensure minors have parental or guardian consent before using the blocking features.

We may restrict access for violations of these Terms.

8. Age Requirements

The App is rated for general audiences on both stores (4+ on the App Store, PEGI 3 on Google Play). Parents and guardians are responsible for supervising use by minors.

9. Third-Party Services

No data is sold. No ads are displayed.

10. Disclaimer of Warranties

The App is provided "as is" with no warranties of any kind. We do not guarantee that:

• The App will be available without interruption.
• The App will meet your specific requirements.
• App blocking will work in every scenario or device configuration, including devices whose manufacturer restricts background services.
• Prayer generation will always be available or accurate.

11. Limitation of Liability

We are not liable for:

• Indirect, incidental, or consequential damages.
• Loss of data or productivity.
• Damages resulting from blocked app access.

Our total liability shall not exceed the amount you paid for the App in the preceding 12 months.

12. Intellectual Property

Faithlocked owns the App, including its design, code, and content, all of which are protected by intellectual property law. You may not copy, modify, or distribute any part of the App.

13. Termination

We may terminate or suspend your access to the App for violations of these Terms. Upon termination, your right to use the App ends immediately.

14. Changes

We may modify these Terms at any time. Continued use of the App after changes are posted constitutes acceptance. Material changes will be communicated within the App.

15. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by Spanish law. Disputes shall be resolved in Spanish courts. EU consumers retain their rights under their country's consumer protection laws.

16. Platform Terms

16.1 Apple App Store

In accordance with Apple's requirements:

• These Terms are between you and Faithlocked, not Apple.
• Apple has no responsibility for the App or its content.
• Apple has no obligation to provide maintenance or support.
• Apple is not responsible for any claims related to the App.
• Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these Terms.

16.2 Google Play

The Android version is distributed through Google Play. These Terms are between you and Faithlocked, not Google. Google is not responsible for the App or its content, has no obligation to provide maintenance or support, and your use of Google Play is additionally governed by the Google Play Terms of Service.
